Many a time I will be watching something and a song will play on the soundtrack that I’m like, where have I heard that before? I spend the rest of the film/tele/game trying to remember the singer and title?

Well, I discovered to songs used for a couple opening credit sequences that sounded familiar but could not quite place.

1. Is the opening for AMC’s “Madman”, a series I’ve heard nothing but greatness about but didn’t have the opportunity to catch until they aired a season 1 marathon a few weeks ago and have segued nicely into season 2.  Having been working at an ad agency for a few months now I can happily report that they nailed the inter workings of the environment.  But I digress…  The opening sequences soundtrack is the instrumental track to A Beautiful Mine from the 2006 Aceyalone/RJD2 collabo Magnificent City.

2. The hohum, but kind of fun Showtime (purchased from BBC) series “Secret Diary of a Call Girl”.  For there opening sequence we are treated to the instrumental track You Know I’m No Good from Amy Winehouse’s full length debut Back to Black.  Which of coursed features the stellar backing band The Dap-Kings.

So, scratch those two off the list.  Now if I could just figure out who sings the song from that damn News 5 promo.
